We have been developing during last summer a new digital method for treetop sawing of risk trees that might fall on the power line. It begins with the analysis of the laser-scanned material and based on it a sawing plan is produced for the risk trees.
An application is used to build a model of the planned sawing, and the model is shown at a display in the helicopter.
At the clearance site, the software directs the helicopter horizontally and vertically to the right position.
The pilot does not even need to see the saw when the application ensures that the treetops can be sawed with the accuracy of few centimeters.
The new process has been successfully used to cut tops from risk trees in Caruna Oy 110 kV network.
This digital process increases the efficiency of the treetop sawing significantly.
We provide the entire service including planning, landowner contacting, laser scanning, analysis, sawing and documentation of results.
Besides of our newly developed method and process, we can also use a mix of traditional and modern methods to define the cutting height even without Lidar data.
